Forget shocks. Fly on gas and oil.
We build custom oleo-pneumatic suspensions for your legendary 4x4.
Tell us about your build →Why standard suspensions keep failing you
Traditional suspension systems were not designed for the demands of serious off-road use. Here is why they fall short.
Load Sensitivity
Conventional shocks cannot adapt to major weight changes. Add 600 pounds of gear for a trip and the ride suffers. Remove it after and now it is too harsh. You are always compromising.
Always Adjusting
Some high-end shocks offer manual adjustment. But that means constant tweaking for every load change, every terrain type. Even then, the response is never truly proportional.
Gradual Degradation
Conventional shocks fade so gradually you do not notice. By the time you feel the difference, you have been driving on compromised performance for months.
The Comfort Trade-off
Most suspensions force a choice: soft for comfort or stiff for capability. You cannot have both. Until now.
The result? Constant replacements, unpredictable failures in remote locations, and a ride that is never quite right.
What Nimbus owners say
"With the Nimbus suspension doing its job, the unpaved road seemed almost buttery smooth. We could not believe how quietly the old Land Rover glided over the undulating washboard and maintained stability through the corners. To me, a badly corrugated road is one of the most severe tests of a loaded overland vehicle's suspension, and the Nimbus suspension passed with flying colors."
"I can't describe how the car changed completely on the road. It's very soft and smooth. No vibration. It feels like a Range Rover. To be honest, it was the best investment ever. It does what you advertise."
"The drive quality is so much better. It drives like a brand new car with modern suspension and without the judders and wobbles. Many thanks for your outstanding customer service."
"I didn't know an 80 could be this plush and compliant. Creeping in on 100 series territory. Also, I couldn't help but notice the insane aerospace build quality while installing the Nimbus suspensions."
"I can guarantee: it's incredibly comfortable. From now on, every 4x4 I restore will be fitted with Nimbus. They have my Land Cruiser 200 for development right now, and I can't wait to get it back."

What this means for your vehicle
Transformative Comfort
Washboard roads become smooth. Vibration disappears. The difference is immediate and unmistakable.
Never Bottom Out
Progressive nitrogen springing gets firmer as it compresses. No harsh metal-to-metal impacts.
Infinitely Adjustable
Adjust nitrogen pressure for any load. Empty truck or full camping setup. One suspension, infinite configurations.
Superior Traction
Ultra-responsive rebound keeps your wheels planted. Better grip on rocks, sand, and slippery surfaces.
Built for Decades
Machined from solid aerospace-grade aluminum blocks. No welding, no weak points. Built to last.
Lightweight Strength
Premium aluminum and aerospace materials. Exceptional strength without weight penalty. Corrosion-resistant.
The same principle that lands commercial and military aircraft
Nimbus uses oleo-pneumatic technology. Nitrogen gas as a progressive spring, hydraulic oil for precise damping. Comfort and capability without compromise.
Which system is right for you
Erebus
Land Rover Defender / INEOS Grenadier / Toyota LC78 & LC79 & LC80 & LC100 / Jeep Wrangler / Mercedes G-Class
Complete self-contained oleo-pneumatic unit. Replaces your existing shock absorbers with a system that handles both spring and damping functions.
Goliath V2
Toyota LC200 & LC250 / Lexus LX & GX / 4Runner / Tacoma / Tundra / Prado
Designed for coil over front suspension platforms. Goliath V2 provides the spring function at the front, paired with Erebus units at the rear.

Built by hand, tested by time
Every Nimbus unit is assembled and quality-controlled by our team at the factory in France.
Custom-Tailored
Each set is built specifically for your vehicle's setup, weight, and intended use. No one-size-fits-all.
Bolt-On Installation
Designed to install as easily as your original shocks. Instructions and unlimited tech support included.
90-Day Lead Time
Custom manufacturing takes time. Standard lead time is 90 days, or 30 days with Fast Pass option.
A separator-free emulsion design
No floating pistons, diaphragms, or membranes to rupture. We have eliminated the number one failure point in gas-charged suspensions entirely.
The nitrogen compresses progressively: soft over small bumps, firm under heavy loads. The oil flows through precision valves to control both compression and rebound.
Why This Matters
Every other gas-charged shock absorber relies on a physical separator between the gas and oil. These separators wear, degrade, and eventually fail. Nimbus removes that component entirely, resulting in a simpler, stronger, longer-lasting system.
118 years of proven technology
This is not new or experimental. Oleo-pneumatic systems have demonstrated reliability in the most demanding applications for over a century.
French engineer Paul Doumer develops the oleo-pneumatic shock absorber for military artillery, improving accuracy under extreme conditions.
George Messier installs the first oleo-pneumatic suspensions on an automobile. The "springless car" becomes a sensation in motorsport.
Adopted by automobile manufacturers under the guidance of French engineer Paul Mages, defining automotive luxury for 60 years.
Almost every commercial aircraft uses oleo struts in their landing gear. Nimbus brings this proven technology to the off-road community.
Considered an ultimate luxury due to its production cost, oleo-pneumatic remains the only approach that can uncompromisingly ensure comfort, safety, and performance.
Engineering details
Aerospace-Grade Aluminum
7075 aluminum for structural supports. Maximum strength and excellent heat dissipation. 6082 aluminum for external bodies. Superior corrosion resistance and machinability. Machined from solid blocks. No welding.
High-Performance Seals
Multi-seal stack with NBR, FKM (Viton), PTFE and TPU. Rated -200 to +280 degrees Celsius, providing extensive margin beyond system requirements.
Proprietary Hydraulic Oil
Based on Ipone formulation with additives to stabilize viscosity and resist oxidation. Standard oil fluid to -40 degrees, deep cold variant to -61 degrees.
Hard Chrome Rods
Rod surfaces utilize hard chrome for wear and corrosion resistance. Spherical plain bearings use a special PTFE liner, are self-lubricating, and should not be externally greased.
